Day 1: June 14

Many of you have wanted to tour Israel with Dr Kameel, so now you are finally on your way. Today is filled with 'high expectations' as you head to your international airport for your flight to Amman Jordan. For most it is your first visit to the Middle East and you will not be disappointed. On this journey, you will follow in the steps of Joshua & Caleb as they like you spied out the land of milk & honey. It's the beginning of a life changing experience and we trust your excitement will only increase as the Bible becomes alive as the Lord speaks to your heart!

Day 2: June 15

Amman Jordon

We have a early arrival time of 5:15am this morning, the excitement of being here will keep you going throughout the day. At Amman Airport, we climb aboard our bus to begin an incredible journey. Amman, capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, situated on seven hills between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. Amman was once the capital of the Ammonites and it was here King David had Uriah the Hittite, husband of Bathsheba, killed in battle. Fortress towers ringed the city at that time - the best preserved of these can still be seen today - but they were little protection against King David's army. His forces toppled the Ammonites and, apart from a brief revival in the 9th and 8th centuries BC, the area was ruled in succession by the Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians for several hundred years. As we wind our way through Amman we may pass the palace of King Abdullah II. We head to Citadel Hill where we will have a birds-eye view of the city including some of its archaeological remains such as the Roman Theatre, an impressive relic of ancient Philadelphia. We will then visit the small Jordan Archaeological Museum which houses an excellent collection of antiquities ranging from prehistoric times to the 15th century. There is an exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a copy of the Mesha Stele or the Moabite Stone, Mesha tells how the God of Moab had been angry with his people and had allowed them to be subjugated to Israel. It also houses four rare Iron Age sarcophagi. We then leave Amman to travel north to Jerash, which was one of the Decapolis cities, with its stunning ruins. Conquered by Pompey in 63 BC, Jerash is considered one of the largest and most Jerashwell-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. It comprises of paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, theatres, public squares, plazas, baths, fountains and city walls dotted with towers and gates, and it really is an amazing place. After a full day we head west to the Dead Sea Spa Hotel for two nights. We will have a great dinner before climbing into bed for a well-deserved sleep.
Overnight: Dead Sea, Meals: (B/L/D) Dead Sea Spa Hotel

Day 3: June 16

Mt NeboAfter a full breakfast, we travel south to Madaba which was inhabited for at least 4,500 years, and is mentioned in Numbers 21:30. This is followed by Mount Nebo, known as Pisgah in the Bible where Moses lived out his remaining days and viewed the Promised Land which he would never enter. Mt Nebo is a favoured site of many pilgrims. Standing tall for all to see is the enigmatic Serpentine Cross. The figure represents the bronze serpent taken up by Moses in the desert, as well as the cross upon which Jesus was crucified. We then visit the 'Baptismal Site of Jesus,' which Jordan is developing as a key pilgrimage site. It has been partially' excavated and is one of the most important archaeological discoveries in modem Jordan — the settlement and region of Bethany where John the Baptist lived and baptized. It is believed that Jesus was baptized in this area. Bethany formed part of the early Christian pilgrimage route between Jerusalem, the Jordan River, and Mt. Nebo. The area is also associated with the biblical account of Elijah the prophet ascending to heaven in a whirlwind on a chariot of fire. It is located in the Rift Valley with its dramatic and beautiful landscape. The Jordan River slowly flows into the Dead Sea, which is 400m below sea level: the lowest point on the face of the earth.

Petra SiqPetra Treasury

Undoubtedly the most famous attraction in Jordan is the Nabatean city of Petra, nestled away in the mountains south of the Dead Sea. Petra, which means "stone" in Greek, is perhaps the most spectacular ancient city remaining in the modern world, and certainly a must-see for visitors to Jordan and the Middle East. Although much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for the amazing sites that you will see. A unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabateans over 2,000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1.5 km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80 metre high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself as the colors and formations of the rocks dazzle you. Back at the hotel you can again take time to float on the Dead Sea or just hang out at one of its five swimming pools..

Day 4: June 17

This morning we make our way to the Allenby Bridge border crossing into Israel. We go directly south through the Rift Valley following the Dead Sea until we reach Masada. We will MasadaTel Jerichotake a cable-car up the steep incline with spectacular views of the Rift Valley where we will learn the story of the Jewish Zealots and how they survived for 3 years in this place. Herod's ability to build is a feat on its own. From here we travel north to Jericho where we will visit Tel Jericho and view the Mount of Temptation, but first we will enjoy a wonderful Middle Eastern lunch. It is possible to have some fresh pomegranate juice and have the cheapest camel ride in the country.
(Overnight in Jericho, Meals: B/L/D) Intercontinental Hotel

Day 5: June 18

This morning we drive north along the Rift Valley to Tiberias and the Bible's famous body of water: the Sea of Galilee.. We visit Jesus' town of Capernaum with the ruins of Peter's Petra SiqTadenit Baptismal Sitemother-in-law's home and the ancient synagogue. We will then relive the immortal 'Sermon on the Mount' (Matthew 5-7) at the Mount of Beatitudes. Lunch will be St. Peter's Fish by the shore of the lake. Finally we will go southern portion of the lake to Yardenit, where the Sea of Galilee flows into the Jordan River, it is the official Christian baptismal site. Those who would like to be water-baptized by full immersion this is your opportunity to do so.
(Overnight in Tiberias, Meals: B/L/D) Restall Hotel

Day 6: June 19

Isaiah prophesied that the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. God's Word will shine even more brightly for us as we explore 'His territory.' This begins with a Sea of Galileememorable boat ride on the Sea of Galilee with time to reflect on the Lord's lakeside ministry. We will begin the day at Mizpeh Shalom, on the Golan Heights, with a spectacular view of the entire Sea of Galilee region. From here, we visit Mount Bental, which affords us an impressive view of Mount Hermon, highest mountain in the holy land, and also of the nation of Syria. Next will be Banias, known in the New Testament as Caesarea-Philippi, an impressive Greco-Roman city located near a flowing spring - one of the sources of the Jordan river. Banias is on the foothills of the Hermon mountain. A Roman sanctuary, which included temples and ritual courtyards, was built near the sacred grotto of the Greco-Roman Sea of GalileeGod Pan. Tel Dan is one of the most important sites for the archaeological and historical recovery of ancient Israel. The city of Dan represented the northern border of the biblical kingdom of Israel – from 'Dan to Beersheba' were Israel's Old Testament borders. It was here, 2,900 years ago, that King Hazael of Damascus punctuated his invasion of Israelite territory with the erection of the famous House of David inscription, the oldest document to mention the historical King David. It is here that visitors can explore the site King Jeroboam's temple, which the Hebrew Bible indicates he established to house the golden calf and challenged the temple in Jerusalem for religious supremo.

(Overnight in Tiberias, Meals: B/L/D) Restall Hotel

Day 7: June 20

Valley of ArmageddonAs we make our way to the Mediterranean Sea we will stop and visit Nazareth, and walk thru the Nazareth Village, a reconstructed life-like version of Nazareth in the time of Jesus. An added bonus with the panoramic view from Mount Precipice overlooking the Valley of Armageddon, which is also called the Gathering Place in Revelation, the view will take your breath way. We will then visit a Messianic Assemble on Carmel Assembly for some messianic worship, followed by lunch together. Our final stop today is Caesarea located on the Mediterranean Sea where Paul was imprisoned. Though thoroughly pagan, it was here that the Gentiles were first born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.

From here we visit the City of David, the original Jerusalem, which was once the Jebusite city captured by David and converted into his capital and God's holy city. You have the opportunity to walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel which is filled with water and takes you to the Pool of Salome, don't miss this thrill. (Overnight at Mount David Hotel Bethlehem Meals: B/L/D)

Day 9: June 22

This morning you will experience the magnificent panorama of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended to heaven and where He will return. We will relieve some of the most poignant moments in the New Testament as we descend the Palm Sunday Road, stopping at Dominus Flevit, the 'tear drop church where Jesus wept over the City of Jerusalem and foretold the tragic events that would happen (Luke 19:37-42). Going further down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, we visit the Church of All Nations, known as the JerusalemGarden of Gethsemane, where Jesus began His passion and was betrayed by Judas Iscariot and arrested. It is here that many pilgrims are deeply moved by His suffering for us. Nearby is the sealed Golden Gate, where Christ entered the temple precincts during His triumphal entry. After lunch you have the afternoon free to wander at your leisure in the Old City, to shop or sip some mint tea in a local café, or just enjoy the sounds and smells of Old City life. You can also spend time in the Jewish West Jerusalem shopping precinct near our hotel. Lunch will be at your leisure.
(Overnight Caesar Hotel Jerusalem, Meals: B/L/D)

Day 10: June 23

Temple Mount

If conditions permit, our first stop will be the Temple Mount. It sits on top of Mount Moriah, where Abraham almost sacrificed of his son Isaac (Genesis 22). There are14 hectares of sacred space and it is the most priceless piece of real estate in the world. Here is the location of the temples of Solomon and Herod; the latter is where the infant Jesus was presented before the Lord by Mary and Joseph. As a man He taught in the temple courts and overturned the money changers' tables. Since the 7th century AD, the mount has housed the twin shrines of the Dome of the Rock and the al Aqsa Mosque, among the most sacred of Muslim shrines. We then meander to the Western Wall, once a purely Holy SepulchreWestern Wall

Religious site, today it is a national shrine where people pray, soldiers are inducted, and young men have their bar mitzvahs. Take the opportunity to pray and squeeze a prayer note between crevices of the stone blocks. We will then visit the underground tunnels of the Temple Wall excavations and the Davidson Centre. After lunch we vist the Burnt House The Old City's Jewish Quarter is also home to the Burnt House, the once-stately manor of an upper class Jewish family of the priestly caste in Second Temple Jerusalem. Inside you'll find a small collection of period antiquities within the visible remnants of the house itself, including earthenware inscribed with the family's name. You'll also be treated to an, ahem, enthusiastic film dramatization (in Hebrew and English), complete with simmering intrigue and hammy acting, of the doomed family's last days as Jerusalem tore itself apart from Cardo Wall RemainsPinnacleof the Temple

within, while the Romans lay in wait outside the gates, Uncovered by Nahman Avigad's team in the 1970s, the Cardo in the Jewish Quarter was excavated for about 200 meters. This portion dates to the time of Emperor Justinian in the first half of the 6th c. A.D. An earlier portion of the Cardo was constructed in the Roman period beginning at the modern Damascus Gate in the north, but it didn't stretch this far south until centuries later. If time permits we will visit the Holy Sepulchre which is a stone's throw away, the traditional place where Jesus was crucified and buried.
(Overnight Caesar Hotel Jerusalem, Meals: B/L/D)

Day 11: June 24

Rampart WalkToday we do something very different and that is we will walk the Old City Rampart. Beginning at Jaffa Gate and ending at Zion Gate. This will give you a view of Old City life from above and see what goes on behind all those closed gates and walls. From here we visit the Upper Room where Jesus & the Disciples had their final meal together, then a short walk away we will go to Saint Peter En Gallicantu where Peter denied Christ three times and where it is belived Jesus was held in a dungeon overnight at the High Priests house. Finally the Garden Tomb is our last stop for the day as we share communion together. We then return to our hotel for dinner.
(Overnight Caesar Hotel Jerusalem, Meals: B/L/D)
